Now if you were thinking that these two train titles have little to do with anything you would be mistaken. The TurboTrain developed from 1965 by the Sikorsky Division of the United Aircraft Corporation with Canadian involvement was based on an earlier study and patents attributed to the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. Entering service in 1968 the gas turbine powered train with a straight line top speed of 270 km/h (limited to no higher than 150 km/h in actual service) promised to slash rail travel times and deliver train travel into the jet age. However it didn't quite work out as hoped and was withdrawn from service in the US in 1976 and in Canada in 1982.
